FS88 is an improved version of FS80 USB2.0 fingerprint scanner from Futronic. It was licensed by FBI to be compliant with PIV-071006 image quality specification for single figure reader. For the personal identification & verification of federal Employees and contractor, it meets the US federal information processing standard 201(FIPS201). It is also considered in the list of US General Services Administration (GSA) FIPS 201 Evaluation program Approved Product list.

FS88 uses ultra-modern CMOS sensor technology and specific optical system to gather the exact requirement on finger print image quality of PIV-071006. The window of this scanning system is made of 14 mm thickness crown glass, which can defy unwanted scratches and other stress to make certain durability even in heavy duty usage. Exceptional electronic circuit is used in FS88 for the LFD facility, which is well-known as Live Finger Detection. It rejects the fake fingers, which are normally made of silicone rubber, play-doh, and other such materials. The LFD feature is comprised in all Futronic standard software.

An inimitable serial number is factory-programmed into the USB device descriptor of each FS88. So, each and every FS88 is easily traceable, and it is quite essential for government identity management projects.
